Howdy, folks! My first attempt at an AAR ended rather suddenly, the cause being me simply forgetting, and my HOI3 launcher not working, which has now been solved. I had played ahead quite a bit, and the gameplay was not very eventful anyway. But, I plan to keep with this AAR. This is a thing I am pretty sure no AARtist has ever done before! But, what exactly am I doing that's so special?Glad you asked. This AAR is going to start in the diary of Kaiser Wilhelm II, and him recording histories events.

That is why I will be using the WW1 mod to start it off. After WW1 is over in the game, it will switch to vanilla TFH, where I will be playing, again, Germany.

So, as suggested by the title, it is a Tale of Two Reich's.But you might be asking yourself: 'But if you win in the WW1 mod. How would there ever be a WW2?' I have it all covered with a super classified story. A story so classified that I had to miss class to write it. School hasn't even started yet!

Me and my damn puns. But let's get all this game info sorted. The Goals:“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.”- Albert EinsteinNow, first I have to set some goals up for myself, or I am just playing for nothing. For the first segment of the game, (The first segment is the WW1 mod) the goal is just simply to win the war. The definition for winning WW1 in my books would be taking over France and defeating Russia. Who knows, if things go well enough, I may even attempt a early Sealion. But I do not expect to, since I have only ever played one game as the Ottomans in the WW1 mod.

Some secondary goals could include keeping my allies: Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria (Who knows, I may even have others?) alive. We all know what happened to the Central Powers.

Power after they lost. It was like a gigantic row of dominoes suddenly toppled over. But under my leadership, those dominoes shall stand! For the WW2 part of the AAR, my primary goal is going to be controlling all of Europe, or at least expelling all of the Allies from Europe, and leaving neutral countries? Meh, we'll wait and see. However this goal is only for starters.

Some secondary goals are going to be things such as winning against the British in North Africa, taking Gibraltar, and I'll think of some things along the way, depending on the situation. I may even attempt an invasion of the USA if the game goes that well for me, but we'll have to see about that too. I will also try to keep Italy alive and well, but the rule doesn't apply to Japan. Since they are on the other side of the world.

Long distance relationships never work out anyway.House Rules:“Know the rules well, so you can break them effectively.”- Dalai Lama XIVWW1 House Rules:-Germany must stay in character as they were historically, this meaning no random invasions of Sweden or invading America in 1913 to get them out of theway.-Cannot do an invasion of England unless both Russia and France are defeated.-Cannot interfere with history, this meaning like getting Belgium into the C. Powers so I don't have to go through them.-Cannot just abandon the colonies, like IRL Germany I will try to defend them.-Must recruit the Ottomans, Austro-Hungarians, and Bulgarians into the C. Powers.TFH House Rules:-Must enact all events like annexing Austria and Danzig or War.-Must recruit Italy and Japan minimum to the Axis.-Cannot do Sealion until Russia is defeated.-Cannot attempt to invade the USA unless there is NO Allied presence in Europe.-Must declare war on Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, and Norway, although they do not have to be outright annexed.-No Cheating! (This applies to both sections of the AAR.)The AAR style will show not only what I am doing in the game, but also what the Kaiser/Fuhrer is thinking of in the situations and his discussions with the German leaders on the current situations.Expect the first post that will contain a historical intro to the German Empire tomorrow morning.

(I am in CST timezone, so my morning will be at a different time then some of yours). A Historical Note:The Duchy of Prussia began as a fief of Poland. However, after the Second Northern War, the two treaties of Labiau and Wehlau-Bromberg signed in 1656 and 1657, gave the Hohenzollern House sovereignty over the Duchy of Prussia, along with their state, the Electorate of Brandenburg. Finally, in 1701, the Kingdom of Prussia was formed when Fredrick III crowned himself King of Prussia. The title was adopted by all ruling men of the Hohenzollern House.Prussia had made small gains over the years, however it's territory was disjointed, and it was devastated after the 30 years war, and the bubonic plague.

Some specific territories gained by Prussia included southern Swedish Pomerania and Stettin, gained after victory in the Great Northern War. (1700-1721) In 1740, King Frederick II, known as Frederick The Great, rose to the throne of Prussia. Fredrick invaded Silesia, which belonged to Austria at the time. After a grand campaign, Fredrick rose victorious after the Treaty of Berlin in 1742, which gave the Kingdom of Prussia Silesia. This was known as the War of Austrian Succession. After the conclusion of the war, Prussia had replaced Austria as Germany's leading power. However, Austria was humiliated, and formed an alliance with France and Russia, while Germany formed one with Great Britain.

Frederick The Great then invaded Saxony and Bohemia in 1756-1757, initiating the Seven Year's War in the process. This war resulted in France losing it's colonies in North America to Great Britain. But Prussia was only able to achieve a Status-Quo from the war, as it fought Austria, France, Russia, and Sweden simutaneously, the fact that it did not lose any land just shows the extent of Prussian military power. Prussia's gains continued with Europe's strongest traditions. The Partion of Poland. Split between Russia, Austria, and Prussia in 3 separate partitions, Prussia got notable gains, gaining Danzig, which connected the Duchies of Prussia and Brandenburg. As time passed, Prussia found itself threatened by Napoleon and his Armies in the 19th Century. Prussia, being a part of the colitions against Napoleon, managed to destroy Napoleon's Empire after Napoleon's defeat in Russia.

Prussia gained major land by the end of the war, and by 1850, was a Great Power and by far the strongest in Central Europe. In 1867, Prussia formed the North German Confederation. It was a big stepping stone towards German Unification, and it united all of the German states except Bavaria, Baden, and Wurtenburg, the 3 Southern German States. But finally, under the leadership of Otto Von Bismark, the North German Confederation managed to rally the 3 states to the German cause, against the French. The war that was known as the Franco-Prussian War ended in a swift German victory in 1871, and resulted in the taking of Alsace-Lorraine from France.

From this point on, the German states had become known as the German Empire.By the 20th Century, Germany had become the most powerful state in Europe. Under the leadership of the ambitious Kaiser Wilhelm II. The Kaiser, coming into power in 1888, had dreams of a German over-sees Empire, to rival that of Britain and France. This worried the British and French however.

The Germans had formed an alliance with their Southern Neighbour, Austria-Hungary. So to challenge it, Britain, France, and Russia formed the Triple Entente, an alliance against the Austro-German Alliance, known as the Central Powers. But to maintain the Empire Kaiser Wilhelm II dreamed of, he would need a strong industry, and a strong navy. The Germans worked so hard that they surpassed Great Britain as Europe's leading industrial power, and by 1910 had the second largest navy in the world, after Britain. Both Empires had strong ships known as Dreadnoughts.

However now, in 1910, tensions are rising in Europe, and war is on the horizon. ' The North remembers. Ever since it's unification in 1871, after the Franco-Prussian War, it had grown to be the strongest continential power in Europe! It had colonies in Africa and the Far East. Kameroon, Togo, Kaiserwilhelmsland, Namibia, Tanzania, and many small islands in the Pacific. For a nation that had only started making colonies in the late 19th century, Germany had an impressive Empire. And that Empire is all thanks to me, Kaiser Wilhelm II, proud member of the Hohenzollern House, heir of Prussia, and Ruler of the German Empire!A look at the Central Powers alliance. Currently, it consists of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. However I do not trust Italy.

They are not as. Close as the Austrians are. Perhaps it's because of our German heritage. But we are by far the strongest member of the alliance, and we have to set an example for our allies. I also doubt the Austro-Hungarian power, and the ability of the Hapsburg house. They are weakened, and if it wasn't for the Austro-Hungarian comprimise in the 19th century, then they would have faced outright rebellion.

One must question the peoples will to be ruled by the Austrians.A look at the production of the German Empire as of May 1, 1910. My Generals insist a large amount of our Industrial Capacity going towards creating upgraded weapons and gear for our armies. I am forced to agree with them, however it only leaves room for the making of 3 new infantry divisions.

However I have began pushing to allow the 'War Economy' law to be enacted. This would help our Industry and allow us to manufacture the amount of armies I desire. This is the Research tab of the German Empire as of May 1, 1910.

Most of our leadership is going towards research, to the joy of our scientists. The Majority of the research is going towards upgrading our U-Boats, or submarines, Equipment for our infantry in different climates and terrains, and land doctrines to strengthen our land armies.

We currently have no leadership invested into Diplomacy, but we have some in Espionage and Officer recruitment.Ah, the Ottoman Turks are coming into our grasp. I am quite fond of the Ottomans, personally. I have a personal friendship with Enver Pasha, the Chief of Staff for the Ottoman Army ever since the Young Turk revolution in 1908.

With our help, the Ottoman Empire is slowly shaping itself into a military force to be reckoned with. Our intelligence also reports similar cases of alignment coming from the Netherlands and the Kingdom of Hedjaz. Personally I would rather have the Dutch as an ally rather then an enemy, as it would secure our colonies in the Pacific from the Australians and British.Bah! A clear sign of British weakness! They only won the Boar war in the first years of the 20th century, and they don't even manage to hold onto direct control of that colony for 10 years! However this threatens our colonies in Namibia. I am much more worried about a full nation's army then a few British divisions.

I made sure to make a notice that Namibia will need a full corps of defenders in the future.Hmm. This news troubles me. This Japanese aggression has gone unwarranted by the Great Powers and by the Chinese, it seems. Our spies report that the Japanese are drifiting towards the Triple Entente, and not us, and are very close to the faction. I was confident our current defenses in our Asian colonies would hold against Australian and British, maybe even French assault, but I do not know of this new threat. The Japanese surely see our colonies in Micronesia as valuable gains.Troubling news from the Home Front.

My Generals report to me that the Eastern Front is seriously undermanned. I have made a special order that all new divisions shall go directly to the Eastern Front. The Russians seem to have armies deployed all along not only our border, but the Austro-Hungarian border as well.

But I think that, even if undermanned, we have a clear advantage in the Eastern front, because of the poor Russian infrastructure and railway network. But that won't work as an advantage if half of the border hasn't a single man in it!

After a personal visit to the Austro-Hungarian defenses, I was impressed. The Hapsburgs seem to still be a military power, despite internal problems.Excellent News! I just recieved word from the training camps that the first 3 divisions are ready to fight for the German Empire and her colonies. These divisions are ordered to be deployed to the Russian border around Breslau, effectively filling up the Corps that is stationed there. Any further divisions will be going up north to East Prussia or the Danzig Region.

I am confident that by the end of 1911 all of our provinces on the Eastern Front will be manned by 1 division or more.Interesting news from Europe and Asia. The First Portugese Republic has been formed. I am starting to wonder if perhaps Monarchy is not the future of the world, but democracy. But I would rather die then have the Democratic filth poured into the Fatherland. Germany has been and always will be a Monarchy, as long as the Hohenzollern House shall live! For the Death of King Chulalongkorn of Siam, I do not care much, however the German Empire sends it's regards to the new King anyway. It has been a long year, but this is the Industry of the German Empire by the end of 1910.

It is now the day before Christmas, December 24. Sometime in the year I had managed to enact the War Economy law, and our Industrial Capacity made a huge boost to 190. The majority of this is spent on unit production. We are producing some submarines, infantrymen, and cavalry divisions.

The average infantry division comprises of 2 infantry and 1 artillery unit, while the average cavalry unit comprises of 3 cavalry.A look at our defenses on the Western Front. Each province has 2 - 4 divisions each, 3 being the average. We currently have no units on the Dutch border, and that will not change until they are in the Entente camp, something I intend to not let happen easily. The Netherlands could become an easy route into France, plowing through Belgium from the North on a wide front. But an outright invasion of the Dutch is out of the Question.

The Entente will surely challenge the aggression, and Germany is not yet ready for all-out war. But, as the new year approaches. It shall be ready. ' The North remembers. Click to expand. You can still start your AAR. This mod doesn't get enough credit as it is.Thanks for the tips. From the game I played as the Ottomans, I watched the C. Power's AI plow through Russia, while getting stuck in Belgium, but that was in Version 0.4. I am also playing a separate Bulgaria game, and I noticed that it is MUCH harder to defeat the Ottomans in the First Balkan War then it was in previous versions. I remember in Version 0.4 I beat them in a couple of months, but in this new game the war lasted until March 1913. The Ottomans took out Montenegro early, and Greece only took like one province, so I had to cooperate with the Serbian AI to surround Ottoman divisions in Albania before we could manage to get a victory.

It was kinda back and forth in Thrace. I didn't manage to take Eastern Macedonia until February, which cut off all of the Ottoman divisions West of Thrace. You can still start your AAR.

Germany had fortified her Western Front, while recruiting infantry to build up the East. I have big plans for 1911. For one, the Eastern Front will be strengthened with Infantry and also Germany's first cavalry units. There would also be a buildup in naval units, specifically submarines and even a large transport fleet. This is a look at the Entire Eastern front, including the Austro-Hungarian border as of March 30. Our border is almost completely filled with infantry, while the Russians are spread so thin they do not have any troops for half of the Austro-Hungarian border. It would seem the Russian Bear is in hiberation. The only thing I am concerned about is when it wakes.

While I am confident in our troops ability to hold and even push the front, I doubt the morale of our Hapsburg allies. This is the production quota as of June 23. We are producing some U-Boats, Infantry, and starting work on transport ships.

We will need a large amount for what I have in mind, however. By this time the Cavalry production has already been finished, and deployed onto the Eastern Front. We are also building a Dreadnaught, which takes years to make, but is surprisingly cheap in Industrial Capacity.

It is to be called the SMS Helgoland.I was pleased when I went to Kattowice to see fresh cavalry divisions on the outskirts of the city with the standard infantry divisions. Each cavalry division consists of 3 brigades of cavalry. However, I have my doubts about the use of cavalry in the modern era.

My generals are, however, convinced about the Cavalry's ability to charge the enemy lines ahead of the Infantry. But I fear with the new artillery that we have tested, Cavalry will be torn apart. I suppose it is the same with Infantry, however.Very excellent news! In what has become known as the 'Agadir Crisis', we have managed to gain a piece of territory south of Kameroon after Franco-German negotiations.

However, in return we did have to recognize the French position in Morocco, much to my disliking. We do, however send our condolences to the Sultan of Morocco, for his unfortunate rebellion. However, if it gets us new territory, Moroccans should start rebelling more often! This is a look of the German colony of Kameroon with the new territorial additions made thanks to the Agadir Crisis. We now control all territory surrounding the small Spanish colony, albeit this is more territory we have to defend from the French and the British from Nigeria.

But I am confident we are able to defend Kameroon in the case of war. This is a diagram showing our total army and navy as of June 23, 1911. Currently we have 236 divisions, the majority of them infantry, with a few cavalry units.

We also have 4 garrison units defending the major ports in the North Sea, including Hamburg. Although I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to attempt an invasion of the German Empire via sea. With the second largest navy in the world and one of the largest armies in the world, we are fully protected from such a case. This is the German plan to supply the African colonies of Togo, Kameroon, Namibia, and Tanzania with the troops needed to defend from the British and French. The operation needs a total of 22 divisions. 7 to Namibia, while 5 each going towards the other 3 colonies. This is precisely the amount of divisions needed to defend every bordering province that has a good enough infrastructure. Here is all frontiers of the Central Powers as of September 8, 1911.

The Great War Mod

The Eastern Front is now fully filled with at least 1 brigade, however I intend for there to be more. There is two theatres on the German mainland. Then there is 1 Army Group attached to each theatre. 2 Armies are attached to the Army Group, with 2 - 5 Corps assigned to an Army. A full Corps has 5 divisions. This event brought both good and bad news to the German Empire.

For one, our Industrial production increased by 8%. But the dissent of the people has increased, which brings a higher demand of consumer goods. This means all of the new industry is currently wasted on producing goods to keep people's dissent down. So overall, it's rather disappointing. Hopefully the demand for consumer goods goes down soon. The current research projects in the German Empire as of October 1, 1911. Our technology is currently so up-to-date that we are just researching whatever is still in the year 1911, albeit some of our tech's we are researching are a year ahead.

I have, however, taken interest in the works of Graf Von Zeppelin, and his air ships, which he calls 'Zeppelin's', appropiately named after him. However, German scientists and Graf himself claim that the first real Zeppelin won't be able to be built until 1913.

I will have to wait.Very disturbing news from the Mediterranean. The Italians, our ally, have declared war on the Ottoman Empire, on the grounds of claims to the Turkish controlled Libya. Both us and the Austro-Hungarians are rather angry at the Italians, and relations have been further soured. Ottoman officials came to Berlin the other day demanding us to end our alliance with the Italians. I am more than inclined to at the moment, however the Italians are giving us a first-hand report of the Italian-Turkish conflict, something I should like to keep track of.So, another conflict erupts in the world. A peace is disturbed, as it would seem. This time, it is a Chinese Civil War, or more simply the Xinhai Revolution.

These rebels are looking to disrupt the Imperial rule that has been in China for over 2000 years. Personally, I am rooting for the Qing Empire. I would hate to see the Monarchy removed from China.

I hope to see a quick victory to the war in China.I have just recieved this rather interesting picture of the war in China. The dark brown is the Republic of China, or the Xinhai rebels, while the lighter color is the Qing Empire. The most worrying thing in the war is that the Qing capitol, Nanjing, is almost completely surrounded by Xinhai forces.

But hopefully the Qing troops can break out of the pocket. The German Empire will not go as far as to give military support to the Qing, however. It would, in my eyes, be a huge waste of resources. The Italians have staged their first landing in Libya. They are landing in the mountain province of Ez Zauia, just west of Tripoli. The Italians are landing a substantial amount of forces on this one landing, and I expect more in the future. This shows Italian progress in Libya as of November 1, 1911. The Italians have siezed 3 of 4 Libyan ports. According to Italian reports, only 3 Ottoman divisions have been spotted in the whole of Libya, so obviously we cannot judge the Turk's usefulness based off of this Italian campaign, and it's just a case of lack of manpower in Libya.

The land appears to have no strategical value, anyway. I fail to see Italian interest in the area. This is Italian progress by January 7, 1912. The new year has gone by, and there is a 0% chance of any further Ottoman chance of winning. However, the Italians seem to have halted their advance just west of Gazala, despite there being absolutely NO Ottoman divisions present.

Perhaps they have ran out of supplies? Anyway, I look forward to what the new year of 1912 shall bring the Fatherland and her Empire. ' The North remembers. This mod brings the first World War to the japanese islands!STORYImperialistic Western Nations States invade Japan in the 19th century, but Japan is no large country. Unable to peacefully split the lands between themselves war will soon break out in Europe and light the world aflame. However Imperial Japan won’t just roll over and die; with a war between the Central Powers and Triple Entente inevitable, nationalist movements appear in colonies across the globe, picking sides, biding time, or launching bloody revoultions.WHAT THIS MOD DOESIt replaces the units and factions from Fall of the Samurai to fit in the WWI setting.
